Opel Wins Twice at Continental Tyres Irish Car and Van of the Year Awards 2022

Opel Does the Double in 2 Leading Categories

Opel celebrated two major wins at this year’s Continental Tyres Irish Car and Van of the Year awards, held at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Friday 11th February. The much-acclaimed, all-new Opel Mokka was crowned Irish Small SUV of the Year 2022, adding yet another trophy to its ever-growing list of international accolades. Meanwhile, Ireland’s best-selling electric van in 2022, the zero-emissions Opel Vivaro-e, took home the Irish Van of the Year 2022 gong.

Motoring journalists from print, online and broadcasting hosted the event, which was attended by Ireland’s leading car brands, importers and distributors. Voting took place, following a two-day refresher event held at Mondello Park. James Brooks, Managing Director at Leeson Motors, Opel Importer in Ireland, said: “Team Opel Ireland is delighted with these two prestigious awards. There can be no doubt, the Opel renaissance is clear for all to see.” He continued: “The competitively priced all-new Mokka, available in petrol, diesel and battery electric with a range of up to 338km (WLTP), sports Opel’s striking new Vizor front face on the outside and handsome Pure Panel cockpit on the inside.

Winner of the Golden Steering Wheel 2021 in Germany and hailed Top Gear’s Design of the Year winner in late 2021, it now adds Irish Small SUV of the Year 2022 to its trophy cabinet.” “The all-electric Vivaro-e, International Van of the Year 2021, was Ireland’s best-selling electric van in January, taking 32.8% of the emerging EV market.

Indeed, Opel almost doubled its light commercial vehicle share this January, to take a phenomenal 13.8% market share, compared to 6.97% in January 2021. The Continental Tyres Irish Van of the Year 2022 gong, is gratefully shared with our sister brands, Peugeot and Citroen.”
