November 29th saw 61 members of the European Car of the Year (COTY) jury, select the brand new Peugeot 308 hatchback and station wagon as one of 7 contenders to win the Car of the Year 2022. Representing 23 countries, the jury made their selection from 39 other candidates with intense deliberation narrowing the field to the 7 finalists.
This is not the first time that a Peugeot has been selected as a finalist. In fact, it is now the 5th time in 9 years highlighting Peugeots dedication to producing market-leading vehicles. The 208 was chosen at the end of 2019 (winner in 2020), the 508 (hatchback and SW) at the end of 2018, the 3008 at the end of 2016 (winner in 2017) and the previous-generation 308 (hatchback and SW) at the end of 2013 (winner in 2014). This put the current iteration of the Peugeot 308 in fantastic company with a long list of Peugeot winners and nominees.
The new 308, the first of Peugeots new line that will bear the brand's new coat of arms, features a sharp and sensory design, the latest advanced technology including the patented Peugeot iCockpit® and exceptional fuel efficiency. The range of powertrains includes 2 Plug-In Hybrid versions from launch, that give customers the power the option of electrified and internal combustion engines. A fully electric engine will soon complete the range, giving customers an array of options to suit their driving needs.
